About TimesheetsCalculator.com

Free calculators that add up your hours, overtime and pay, built by one person and checked against named test cases.

What this site is

TimesheetsCalculator.com is a set of free calculators for adding up hours from clock in and clock out times. You enter your shifts, and the site gives you the total as hours and minutes and as decimal hours, with overtime and gross pay if you add a rate. It also has a printable time card, a biweekly calculator, an hours to decimal converter and a California overtime calculator.

I built it because most timesheet tools make you do part of the math yourself. Overnight shifts, unpaid lunches, minutes that carry into the next hour and overtime that is counted by the workweek are where totals usually go wrong, so the calculators handle those and show their working so you can check them.

How it works

Everything runs in your browser. The calculators add time in whole minutes and only convert to decimal hours at the end, and each pay line is rounded to the cent once. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere. The contact form is the one exception, because it has to send your message.

How the calculators are checked

Before a calculator goes on a page I run it against named test cases, such as a 40:00 week, a Friday night shift from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, five 10 hour days that produce 10:00 of overtime and a 13 hour Monday under California rules. The rules behind the overtime math come from the Department of Labor and, for California, the state's Department of Industrial Relations. Each page links the source it relies on so you can read it yourself, and I update a calculator if its source changes.

What it does not do

The calculators estimate gross pay before taxes and deductions. They do not decide whether you are exempt from overtime, and they do not replace your employer's pay policy, a payroll provider or legal advice. If you find a result that looks wrong, please tell me and include the times you entered.
